High School!
Much of what you learn in here will prepare you for high school.
There are several computer classes offered at the high school level that will continue to provide opportunities for learning and growth.
As a graduation requirement you must demonstrate computer competence. You may meet this graduation requirement by taking the Kennewick School District Computer Competency Test or by successfully completing Computer Applications 1-2 or Computer Science 1-2 (offered at Kamiakin and Kennewick only).
Computer Applications 1-2
This will be much like my current class, with keyboarding, Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, etc). If you do not want to take this class or Computer Science 1-2, you must pass the Kennewick School District Computer Competency Test-PDF (8th graders can take this test). Taking this class can help you earn your Microsoft Office Certification, an awesome way to improve your resume!
Computer Science 1-2
In this course you will learn about computer programming. Topics include array processing, computer graphics, and file processing. This course is a great foundation for students who are interested in engineering fields. This course is open to 9ththrough 12th graders and meets the computer competency graduation requirement.
Web Design
To take this class you must either take Computer Applications 1-2, Computer Science 1-2, or pass the Kennewick School District Computer Competency Test. This class includes designing and creating web pages, hyper-linking, and hosting for world-wide publishing.
Multimedia
To take this class you must either take Computer Applications 1-2, Computer Science 1-2 or pass the Kennewick School District Computer Competency Test. Multimedia is defined as, “Multimedia includes a combination of text, audio, still images, animation, video, or interactivity content forms.” In short, you will be doing really cool stuff using a variety of computer software.
